Year 3
Our Year 3 trip to Gibside
We spent the whole day at Gibside, exploring the grounds and creating pieces of natural art using the surroundings around us. We even got some time in the park before going home, which was of course the best part.
We had the best trip to the 'Life Science Centre' as part of our science topic. This was the first visit for some children and they were not disappointed. We got to take part in a 'Disgusting Digestive System workshop', where we created our own digestive systems and learnt how the different parts of our body help to digest food. We then got to explore the different parts of the centre and all the exciting science creations.
As part of science week this year, we got to work with Year 4 to do a STEM activity on creating our own boat to float. We had to bring in our own recycled materials and anything else that we knew would help make our boat float. The children had the best time working together and we even got to test them at the end.
Year 3 had the best day celebrating World Book Day. The children were really excited to find the wrapped up fairy tale book, we had hid around our classrooms and it got us talking about our own favourite books. We then got to go to our local library to choose a book to bring back to school to read with our parents at the end of the day. It is always an exciting day getting dressed up but especially when its about our favourite book characters. What a great day we have had!
We were very lucky to be able to go to our local church for our Christingle Service this year. We invited all of our parents/carers to come along to join in with our service. All the children really enjoyed learning about the Christingle and making their own to take to church.
We had the best day at the Great North Museum. We got to attend a workshop all about the Stone Age and we even got to look at artefacts. We then worked in our groups to decide what the items were and what they might have been used for.
