Beech Hill Primary School

Ensuring all children feel happy, safe and loved

Uniform

Our school uniform consists of a grey school jumper with a purple trim; white shirt; a clip on school tie and grey trousers or a kilt. Black shoes should be worn and should be school shoes rather than trainers, especially those with bright trims. Heels are not advisable for safety reasons as children will be running around at play time while in the summer; sandals should have a closed toe.

Donated uniforms will also be sold at St Oswald’s shop in West Denton over summer which will help raise funds for this fabulous cause.

Jewellery

The only permitted jewellery is one pair of stud type earrings although we discourage all earrings because they must be removed or covered for any physical activity. A watch may be worn and is encouraged although these too must be removed for physical activity. No make-up, nail varnish or false nails are permitted to be worn. Staff will ask children to remove make up or nail varnish using a suitable wipe.

If you would like to buy more items, our uniform can be purchased at Top Class, on Moulton Street in Blakelaw, which is open Monday to Friday between 9:00 and 4:00.

It is the responsibility of the parent/carer to provide and maintain a suitable uniform for your child. It is important that we work in partnership to maintain the highest standards for our children.  If a child does not come to school in the correct school uniform, we will provide that child with a suitable item of uniform to change into.

PE Kit

During Covid, we introduced children coming into school in their PE kits on PE days. This is something we could like to continue as it means there is less time spent changing, more time for learning, and less lost property around school. From September, can I ask that all children come to school on PE days, in a school PE kit. This is a school PE t-shirt, if not, a plain purple, white or black one; black shorts or plain black/ grey jogging bottoms – without logos and plain black trainers. If children need to wear a jumper of hoodie, these can be either a school hoodie, or a plain black or grey one, again without logos. This keeps the costs down and also means that children look smart for school rather than endless non uniform days. Please remember to send in any uniform your child has grown out of this week – it’s celebration clothes on Friday so hopefully that gives people the chance to have a sort before the summer.

Haircuts

There have also been lots of Euro blond haircuts and colours going on, please remember that the uniform does not include extreme hairstyles such as patterns cut in or colours.
