We follow the Read Write Inc Phonics Scheme including the 1:1 tutoring resources for children working below the expected level. All phonics groups are taught by a teacher and children are working in groups differentiated to meet the ability levels of a diverse range.

The reading schemes we use include Oxford Reading Tree, Collins, Big Cat and Bug Club. We also use the Read Write Inc stories from Oxford University.  

The children’s 1:1 reading books are book banded and changed daily or as required by parents. Children have book bags which we ask them to return each day, placing them in one of two trays, 'I've read my book' or 'I haven't read my book'. The children are given a new book from their book band to take home if they place their book bag in the 'I've read my book' tray.
