Beech Hill Primary School

Ensuring all children feel happy, safe and loved

Knop Law Primary

Knop Law Primary School is a two storey building situated within Chapel House Estate in the outer west suburbs of Newcastle upon Tyne.

• The school was built in 2010. Knop Law serves a large catchment area which includes both Chapel House and Chapel Park, St Johns, The Boultons, Abbey Grange and Abbey Farm estates. Families from Denton Burn, Lemington Rise, Walbottle, West Denton and Westerhope also contribute to the population of the school.

• Knop Law Primary School caters for a maximum of 420 boys and girls between the ages of 4+ and 11+ years. Children are normally admitted to the school in the September of the school year in which their fifth birthday falls.

• The school consists of fourteen classrooms and is a two-form entry co-educational school.

• The school has a purpose built information communication technology suite, a music suite, technology room and library. All classrooms have the latest technological teaching resources.

• The school has well maintained play areas, large playing fields and a multipurpose muga.

• The school is surrounded by pleasantly landscaped gardens with trees, shrubs and flowerbeds. We now have a self- contained ‘wild garden’ and raised beds for pupils to maintain.

• The school provides ‘before and after’ school care in a purpose built unit which is positioned on the school site and is governed by Ofsted regulations.

• Parkway Playgroup also has self-contained accommodation within the school building.  This is an independent playgroup which provides high quality provision and is inspected regularly by Ofsted.

• Knop Law Primary School provides an excellent education programme to meet the needs and interests of every child in our school, and to provide an environment in which all the children can achieve their full potential.

• We create an ethos of challenge, co-operation and caring throughout the school. We create a stimulating yet secure environment which promotes confidence and enthusiasm. We strive to give opportunities to all the children in order that they can achieve their full potential in all curriculum areas.

• We believe that it is important to regard all the children as individuals, recognising and building on their differing experiences, strengths, weaknesses, and abilities.

• We encourage activities, and adopt strategies, that integrate all subject areas and learning skills. Children are given praise and encouragement and children’s work and achievements are celebrated throughout the school and in celebration assemblies.

• The school has high standards and achievements and in 2011 – 2012 the school was deemed to be the twenty third most achieving primary school in the country.

• We have outstanding Early Years provision on entry into school.  However, we do not have our own Nursery and pupils are admitted from thirteen Play Group and Nursery settings.

• The school provides an exciting and creative curriculum to include sport, music and the arts.

• We also provide an outstanding range of after school activities which are very well supported.

• Over fifteen years we have trained approximately twenty Graduate Teachers all of which have gained full time employment with one exception.
