Enjoying the Sunshine

After what felt like a very long winter, it felt great to get the children out for a day in the sunshine. The teachers thought Year 5 were wonderful on this trip - everyone got on and enjoyed themselves as we explored the playgrounds at Gibside in Gateshead.

Cooking something tasty.

Year 5 have had their turn to work with the team of chefs who've been visiting our school over the last few months. We used chopping boards and knives and then popped our frying pans on some small portable elements to cook the ingredients. The hall smelled amazing afterwards!

Cracking the codes

Year 5 had a wonderful trip to the Discovery Museum in town. The children took part in some code cracking activities. Each activity had something to do with Christmas in the Victorian times. At the end of each challenge, a number was revealed, which led to a combination lock on a box. If they could crack the code, there were Christmas decorations inside for the children to make.

The children a super day and we were really proud of how well they worked together in groups on their code cracking activities.

Keeping Active

We had a health lifestyle event last week where instead of doing Maths in the morning, we got our bodies up and running with some bench ball. Year 5 are amazing at bench ball - it was all played in good spirits with excellent teamwork, tactics and skills - but by heaven was it competitive! If there was a World Cup of bench ball, Year 5 could win it.
