We follow the Read Write Inc Phonics Scheme including the 1:1 tutoring resources for children working below the expected level. All phonics groups are taught by a teacher and children are working in groups differentiated to meet the ability levels of a diverse range.

The reading schemes we use include Collins, for those who have completed Read Write Inc and Big Cat We also use the Read Write Inc stories from Oxford University.  Those on the Read Write Inc programme take home Read Write Inc books.

The children’s 1:1 reading books are book banded and changed when children have read their Read Write Inc book 3 times.  Children have book bags which we ask them to return each day, placing them in one of two trays, 'I've read my book' or 'I haven't read my book'. The children are given a new book from their book band to take home if they place their book bag in the 'I've read my book' tray.
