Year 4 at Vindolanda

As part of their Romans topic in History, Year 4 paid a visit to the Vindolanda fort and museum last week. It gave the children the chance to see the remains of a Roman structure for themselves.
They had a talk from an archaeologist who told them about some of the objects found at the site. The children then had times to explore the ruins and to guess what the different features may have once been used for.
Down by the stream, the children saw the recreation of the Roman temple. It was the perfect opportunity to get their books out and do some sketching.
