Water Safety

Hi everyone,

This week is Drowning Prevention Week, and usually in school we would have assemblies and activities to learn all about water safety…so why let being at home stop us?!  Around 400 people die each year as a result of drowning, and most of these happen in the summer months.  As lots of us are beginning to visit the beach, rivers and lakes to get some much needed fresh air, we want our children to be able to make sensible decisions and manage risks, enabling them to have fun around water.

Have a look through the water safety powerpoint and choose from the following activities:

  • Design a poster about water safety
  • See how many dangers you can spot in the ‘spot the dangers’ picture
  • Draw a ‘spot the dangers’ picture of your own
  • Draw/paint your own beach flags – can you remember what each colour means?
  • Have a go at the water safety puzzles (these are more appropriate for KS2 children)

We would love to see your work uploaded on Class Dojo and Mrs Dickenson will have some water safety certificates for those who upload pieces of work.
