This week - news from 1F on the blog!

This week on the blog, we have news from 1F. Mrs Fielding's class have had a busy few days, with trips to the Great North Museum and Scotswood Gardens, along with hard work in Literacy learning the story of the Gruffalo's Child.

Let's find out what they had to say:

1F really enjoyed their visit to the Great North Museum where they learnt lots of Dinosaur facts. Some children pretended to be Ammonites and we learnt how these become fossils after being covered by mud and sand over many years. We even held fossilised dinosaur poo which is known as coprolite!

We also visited Scotswood where we were learning about seasonal changes in winter. We played a game identifying deciduous and evergreen trees and collected leaves to study. Our favourite activities though was exploring and toasting marshmallows over the fire!

Year 1 have also been practising telling their version of The Gruffalo’s Child.  Here you can see 1F telling the story with some fantastic actions! This technique helps the children before they write their own version of a story.
