RNLI Workshops

The RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution) visited our school to hold some workshops with children of all ages. They told the children about their job, what they have to do and what equipment they used. Most importantly though, they gave the children advice on how to stay safe, including what to do if they fall into water.  The most helpful piece of advice was to not start swimming straight away. We learned that if you fall into water, your body can go into shock due to the cold. So the children were told to first relax and lie flat in the water to give their body a chance to recover before starting to swim.

The workshops were informative but also lively and fun. The children loved answering questions and finding out about the RNLI.
