Local MP visits our school

6th October 2016
We had a special visitor in school last week. Catherine McKinnell, the Labour Member of Parliament for Newcastle North, visited our school on Friday.

The children told her about the work our school has been doing in the community, particularly Team Hope's work with the homeless. We showed her pictures of our Street Friends receiving their gifts.

Catherine then presented our children with an award in recognition of our community work. This was a very proud moment for us.

The afternoon ended up in Year 6, where the children had a chance to talk with Catherine about the work she does.

This is an another example of a member of our community who has visited our school to talk in an assembly over the last few years. Who knows - it may inspire one of our children to follow in her footsteps one day.
