Application Guidance

With School Direct you're selected for training by our group of schools in partnership with Northumbria University. You'll be based in a school from our established network and also study one day per week at Northumbria University. If you're successful in your training, there is the possibility you may be employed in one of the schools in the partnership, depending on available vacancies.

Trainees can begin the application process via the UCAS website, where potential trainees need to register for the application process. Once you have registered and received your personal ID number, you will complete your online application including an application fee. You will be required to submit the following information:

  •  Personal details
  •  Choice of programme
  •  Education history
  •  School experience
  •  Personal statement
  •  References

Extensive school experience is no longer required at time of application.
